Sharon Jansen

Sharon L. Jansen, age 79, passed away on August 11, 2025, at UW Hospital Madison. She was born on August 17, 1945, in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Ralph and Beatrice (Buttke) Runk.

Sharon lived in DeForest for 48 years. Worked and retired from DATCP after 21 years. She loved her husband, family, Elvis collection and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing cards.

Sharon is survived by her children Tamara Black, Brenda (Martin) Canales, and Thomas (Amy) Hauge; 5 grandchildren Cody (Tiffany) Black, Amanda Kerl, Cassidy Black, Brooke (Bryce) Grant, Paige Adel; great grandchildren Brady, Bailey, Jaelyn, Harper, Beau, Landon, Evie, Caden, Emmett, and Parker; siblings Shelbie (Sonny) Flamme, Roger (Dianne) Runk, and Joan Runk.

She was preceded in death by her husband James; daughter Debra Schmitz; her parents; and her sisters Shirlee (Bill) Fincher and Charlotte Detra; brother Ralph Runk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at noon at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson St, DeForest. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10am until the time of Mass. A burial will follow at St. Olaf Catholic Cemetery and lunch to follow.
