November 11, 1935 - August 16, 2025

Obituary

Janet “Sue” Kislia, age 89, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on August 16, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison Wisconsin. She was born on November 11, 1935, in South Beloit, Illinois to parents Harrison and Wanda (Wilson) St. John.

She graduated high school on June 2, 1953; a few days later she married the love of her life Lawrence Kislia Jr. on June 6, 1953.

Sue’s life was filled with adventure, creativity, and joy. She loved traveling and treasured her trips to Germany, Alaska, and Hawaii. At home, she found excitement in flying RC model airplanes, camping, riding with Larry on their Honda Goldwing, square dancing, and cheering passionately for the Green Bay Packers. Sue also had a creative spirit, which she expressed through sewing, card making, and charcoal drawing. Guided by her strong faith, she was an active member of her church and found joy in singing with the choir.

Sue is survived by her 6 children Charlene Arrington, Gayle Kislia, Lawrence (Sherry) Kislia III, Gerald (Amanda) Kislia, Wanda Miller, and Sheri (John) Weldy; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence “Larry”; 7 siblings; and sons-in-law Ronnie Arrington and Ron Miller.

A special thank you to her primary care team including Dr. Leasure and Dr. Gimelli, and the wonderful staff at UW Madison Hospital who cared for her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to West Middleton Lutheran Church.

Now that I see Sue's Obituary, this is really hitting me. I am honored to have known Sue (and Larry). She & Larry stayed in my life and took me under their wings. Sue was a very creative soul. Even after Larry died, she continued to enjoy life to its fullest. She and Larry raised 6 wonderful children. I am sending my condolences to her entire family. Sorry I cannot be there. Please know your parents will always be in my heart! Sending My Love - Sandy Meeker
