Love to you Steve and the kids and everyone who was lucky enough to have Kathy in their life. I have such fond memories of Kathy’s kindness and easy humor all those years ago at East. Love to you all. She’s still here, in all of you.

It was an honor to teach in McFarland with Kathy. She saw the best in people—students and adults—whether it was deserved or not. I appreciated her calm approach to even the most difficult of situations. She improved the lives of countless individuals and will be missed.

I had the privilege of being in a Cherokee neighborhood Bookclub with Kathy for the last 25 years. Kathy was always a very active participant in the group and welcoming. I think I can speak for everyone in our Bookclub that she will be greatly missed. I also did see Kathy at Cherokee neighborhood events and it was always wonderful to see her there, and none of the events will be the same without her. I remember one of the things that Kathy said when we had first moved into the neighborhood and had our first child was that if I didn’t get home from work early enough , he would be in the care of the neighborhood. It just always felt reassuring to know that she was right down the road and I could reach out to her if needed. I loved hearing the stories of her travel with Steve and all the accomplishments of her kids. Very sorry for their loss. She will be greatly missed.

My office was in Kathy’s classroom closet for her last few years of teaching. She was such a delightful person to be with…enjoyed checking in with her every morning, eating lunch with her and just fun times in general. She made a difference in so many people’s lives while teaching at McFarland.

I met Kathy when I was in high school and the was a waitress at Feldmans restaurant on the Northeast side of Madison. Although she was a bit older than us dishwashers, she was always such a kind and fun person. I was thrilled to hear she and Steve, my next door neighbor growing up connected and got married.. Although it has been years since I have seen Kathy, I am not surprised to hear of her service to her students which is priceless. Steve praying for you and the family across the miles from Southern California for your way too early loss of such a wonderful companion.
