Roger Carl Zemp, age 70, passed away on August 25, 2025, at The Sonnett at Tennyson Assisted Living in Madison. He was born on February 26, 1955, in Madison, Wisconsin to parents Edward Jr. and Florence (Segebrecht) Zemp.

Roger was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School. He worked at Sentry Foods in Sun Prairie for many years beginning at the age of 16. He later worked as a Housekeeper II for the East and West Oakwood Villages. He enjoyed coffee and conversation with many of the residents and staff at the facility. Roger was an avid outdoors person, he enjoyed and excelled at many activities including archery, hunting, fishing, and camping. He loved cats and dogs especially his beagles Pickles and Brownie. He was an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America organization and an Order of the Arrow, Brotherhood member helping his son achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Roger enjoyed watching tractor pulls, car races, country music and old westerns especially Gun Smoke or Ponderosa.

Roger is survived by his children Renee (Mike) Henquinet and Kevin Zemp; and his former wife Beth “Betsy” (Zander) Zemp. He is further survived by many family members and friends he made throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday. Entombment will follow the Mass at Roselawn Memorial Park. Lunch to follow in the St Dennis Parish Center.

Beth was a primary caregiver for Dad in his final months as he battled cancer. We are grateful and know it’s a gift our dad deeply appreciated and would have wanted to honor.

Roger’s family would like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice and the UW Carbon Cancer Center for their care and compassion. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the many families and friends that were part of Rogers life.
