Phillip Hahn

Phillip " Phil" Floyd Hahn, age 92, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at The Legacy of DeForest in DeForest, WI. He was born on February 10, 1933, to Adolph and Hattie (Manthe) Hahn in Leeds, WI. Phil served his time in the United States Army as a Field Communications Crewman. He then went on to marry Kathryn Huemmer on September 3, 1956, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison, WI.

Phil worked in telecommunications for over 40 years, starting at Bell Telephone Company and retiring from AT&T in the 1980's. He also spent over 6 years working as the equipment manager for the Madison CapitolAires Drum & Bugle Corps.

Phil was a fanatic season ticket holder for Badger Football, and a big Green Bay Packers fan. In the spring of 1959 Phill and Kathy bought one of the first houses in a new neighborhood on the far northeast side of Madison. They lived in the same house for 66 years before moving into the Legacy this year. Phil and Kathy were blessed to have been surrounded by great neighbors and families during that time. In retirement he enjoyed doing yard work around the house and for other businesses.

Phil is survived by his wife, Kathryn; children, Phyllis (Mitchell) Smith, Mark (Tara) Hahn, Mary Beth (Todd) Hetrick, Karen (Tom) Van Beek; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.

The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice for how quickly they were able to help Phil in his last days and to the staff at The Legacy in DeForest.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Rd, DeForest, WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. A Private Family Burial and Military Honors will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI.

A separate Celebration of Phillips Life in September will be announced soon.
