Jean (Mossey) Schimming
November 16, 1930 – September 2, 2025
Jean Emily Schimming, of Madison WI, passed away September 2, 2025, at Eden Vista Assisted Living.
Born Jean Mossey in Ridgeway, WI, she moved to Madison, where she married Harold Arthur Schimming, and they raised our family. She worked many years as an administrative assistant at UW-Madison, adding a second position later as an usher at the Madison Civic Center, later the Overture Center.
Jean loved to watch news, read, listen to music and play piano. She had an excellent green thumb, spent many happy days at the family cabin, crocheted beautifully, and always had a cat by her side. She believed everyone had a spirit, and her intelligence, compassionate nature and sly humor will always be remembered and treasured.
She is survived by her children Greg, Lea (Dennis Taddy) Marie, Laurel and Brian; three granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, nieces and nephews, as well as extended family, and her friends Pat Veloff and Gary Staffeldt.

A celebration of life for Jean will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Kavanaugh’s Esquire Club, 1025 N. Sherman Avenue in Madison.
