I will always remember Phyllis as a warm, loving and gentle woman who accepted me as a friend of her daughter's back in 1977. She always welcomed with a sincere smile and treated me as an equal. While I only met her a handful of times the Lindgard's home in Verona, she left an impression that will always remain with me. I was an impressionable young adult, a bit of a colt on wobbly legs, and she made me feel like part of the family. I will keep the family in my heart, esp. my dear friend Heather.

I first met Phyllis in 1987 when my youngest sister Amy married her youngest son Ted. I did not really know her until her senior years. The fall after Verlyn passed (2000), our kids and I raked her yard, in thanks, she gifted us with a beautiful watercolor painting of a watermill in winter, sharing her exceptional talent. Our Ladies Painting group began in 2022. Phyllis, my mom Lori, sister Jean, Aunt Laine, and I took turns hosting at our homes, to create art, critique with kindness (Phyllis was the expert), snack, & share stories. In fall 2023, my grandson Hogan and I started visiting with Phyllis at her home, and then at Noel Manor. Phyllis shared her mechanical chairs, tasty snacks, wisdom and hugs with Hogan. As we left one day, city workers were planting trees, and allow Hogan to "help" plant a London plane tree. We'd visit Phyllis, and check on "Hogan's tree". We will watch it grow and remember our love sharing time with Phyllis.

Our deepest sympathies to the families on the loss of their mother, friend, and mentor. Phil was an accomplished artist of unknown talents. Knowing and growing up as a cousin to her was a joy. Over the years we always took time to catch up on family dynamics and history. She will be missed by many. God bless u Phyllis and rest in piece. We loved and love u dearly.
