Mary Volker

DeForest, Wisconsin - Mary C Volker (MCV) passed away on Sept 18, 2025.  Mary fought a gallant battle against metastatic uveal melanoma for 3+ years, she passed with dignity, confidence in her beliefs and trust in the Lord. Mary was born on May 27, 1955, raised in a loving family of Butler siblings in Glendale, WI.  In Glendale the area Mary started her profession as a cosmetologist with Eric of Norway, building a significant following and winning national awards. In 1992 Mary and her two boys moved to DeForest, she married Bill, and very successfully blended her boys, Oliver and Rob with the Volker girls Jenni, Whitney and Lindsey. After successfully uniting the two families she returned to her profession and opened MCV Salon and Spa in Sun Prairie.  She built the salon from a small two-person shop to a cornerstone business at Cannery Square in Sun Prairie, a business that is still thriving today.  At MCV Salon she built a loyal following, numerous friends and won many local business and professional awards including Dane County Small Business of the Year.  She sold the business within the family and retired in 2018. In retirement Mary and Bill spent time at their lake home in Harshaw Wisconsin, condo in Scottsdale Az. as well as their DeForest Home. Location didn’t matter, friendships were built and nourished, and MCV was always the social director.  Mary’s friendships were genuine and lasting.  The children and Grandchildren were Mary’s highest priorities. Regardless of her health if the family and Grand kids were around, laughter, playing on the floor, making treats, tremendous food and creating memories was going to happen. Holiday meals and birthday meals were special, food was abundant and prepared and served by MCV with genuine love. Along with her many skills and hobbies, Mary was an accomplished quilter; her quilting gifts will keep family and friends warm and serve as a reminder of her love and friendship.

A celebration of Mary’s life and legacy was held on April 5, 2025 at Lake Windsor Country Club. A small service for the family will be held soon.
