Obituary

Ronald L. Jordak, age 74, of Poynette, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025.

Born in Milwaukee, Ron attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he played quarterback for the Badgers. His love of football led to a lifelong career in coaching, dedicating more than 30 years to developing and mentoring young athletes. When his daughter took up softball, Ron embraced the sport with the same enthusiasm, giving over 20 years to coaching and supporting the softball community.

Ron was also a talented and accomplished artist. He shared his creativity and passion as an art teacher for 36 years, most of them at Poynette High School, where he was admired and loved by students and colleagues alike.

At home on his farm in Poynette, Ron enjoyed time outdoors, tending to his land, creating artwork, and listening to games on the radio. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his students, and his athletes—and for the kindness, humor, and passion he brought to everything he did.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Courtney; and son-in-law, Chase Fields.

Per his wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Poynette High School Athletic Department.

I had the privilege to be his student in class, a player on his team, and later the honor to coach alongside him for Poynette Football. He was a great man and I had many fond memories over the years. Everytime I would see him, I would refer to him as coach. He earned that respect in the truest sense. Thank you Coach, for all you did for me and everyone else. You will be missed.

We had some pretty cool teachers, but Mr. Jordak was far and away my favorite. Every single class that came through his room I took. Art 1-4, Photo 1-4, Commercial Art Graphics every year and maybe ones I'm forgetting. So many memories. So much fun. From the pottery wheel scene remake from Ghost with Kyle J. To losing his mind when Dead Eye Dick came on 92.1 WMAD, "NO BONE SONG!" The day we decided to glue his chair and pencils down... The day upper classmen decided to smoke herb in the dark room with the fan on blowing out into the classroom, lmfao! Or if he had enough of your crap for the day, "SINK DUTY!" I still have a vast majority of my work from his classroom, I will share when I dig up pictures. My favorite mediums were pencil drawings and pen and ink. From the cover of Biohazards first album freshman year to my best work a portrait of Trent Reznor my senior year. Life is finite. Be good people. Appreciate the people that helped you along the way. Love ya Jords! See you again in time. Deepest condolences to his family and every other of the MANY students whose lives he affected like he did mine.

Mr. Jordak was an awesome teacher and mentor. We played chess all the time during art class and talked about life. Being new to the town and school he was great to talk with.

Mr Jordak was my all-time favorite teacher at Poynette High; graduating class of ‘97. I had 6 out of 9 class periods assigned to the art room my senior year... It was the place I felt like I belonged the most. Mr. J encouraged me and always played to my strengths, even when I didn’t feel very strong. I will always remember his heartfelt chortle and our talks of Pygmy goats, amongst other things! I am teary-eyed now to hear of his passing…. He will be sorely missed but always fondly remembered! He made a difference. My condolences and sincerest sympathy to his loved ones.
