Joanne Levenick
March 31, 1932 - October 22, 2025
Obituary
Joanne Ella (Speranza) Levenick, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, to join her angels and loved ones in heaven. Joanne was born on March 31, 1932, in Madison, WI to John and Bertha (Ahrens) Speranza. She graduated from Madison West High School. Joanne married Homer K. Levenick on September 1, 1951, in Madison, WI at Luther Memorial Church. She had a secretarial career at Power Products and Emerson Electric. Joanne was a long standing member of St. John Lutheran Church in Grafton.
Joanne had a strong faith in God and dedicated her time and talents as a volunteer at her church. She loved to sew, especially quilting, playing cards, gardening, camping, and lived her life to spend time with her family. Whether that time was attending her children’s and grandchildren's’ events, traveling to the Wisconsin Dells, Florida, Japan, Israel and Italy, with her family or a sitting at fire pit "sharing" a drink, she was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. People may remember her for her wooden spoon (for a multitude of reasons) but near the end, we all remember Joanne for sass, spunk, and her smile that followed. Joanne would never pass up dessert and was very protective of her chocolate.
Joanne is survived by her four children, Greg (Dawn), Jane (John) Turowski, David (Mary), and Lisa Voldahl (Dave Wallace); grandchildren, Alison, Rachel (Daniel) Koebler, Grant, Jacob (Lisa) Turowski, Eric Turowski, Lindsay (Dennis Dillon), Brandon (April),Emily (Wyatt) Erb, and Evan Voldahl; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Tom Speranza (Pat Knight), Kay (Ron) Piazza and Bob Wachholz. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; husband Homer; siblings, Irene Remsik, John Speranza, Marcia Olson, and Phillip (Marilyn) Speranza.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30AM on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1193 Lakefield Road, Grafton. A visitation will be held from 9:30AM until time of service on Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Anita’s Garden, and Lily’s Hospice Care, which provided amazing care for Joanne. We owe a debt of gratitude to their entire caring staff. To view her obituary and leave a memory, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com
