Obituary

Scott Patrick Fleming, age 62, passed away Tuesday October 21, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was born in Madison on May 27, 1963.

Scott was an avid hunter and fisherman and a well renowned builder/developer in the Madison area.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Londyn Fleming; son, Samuel Fleming; siblings, James Fleming, Flint Fleming and Chad Fleming.

Scott was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica Fleming and son Anthony Fleming. Tragically taken way too early, those two represented the best Scott had to offer and would send him support throughout his life whether it was cheering him on through an Ironman finish or being shining lights whenever any darkness was creeping in. Scott was also preceded in death by his father Dean Fleming and mother Kathryn Fleming. His paternal grandparents, Edward and Marscleite were integral in his early upbringing after raising 11 children of their own living close by on Henry St. Finer role models you could not find to influence his early years. His maternal grandparents, Leon (Buck) Sanna and Betty Sanna were also deeply connected in Scott’s life. He shared Buck’s love for woodworking as well as an affinity for the family’s business of Swiss Miss products. A part of his upbringing via Betty was a connection to the Maple Bluff neighborhood. This connection resulted in dressing up as Wilma Flintstone in the Maple Bluff Fourth of July parade in the late 1960’s with his brothers Jim, Flint and uncle Chris Sanna getting the much more desired roles of Barney, Bam-Bam and Fred. Later in life those costumes were shed for football gear where he put his star Regent Varsity football skills on display in the annual Turkey Ball/Mud Bowl tackle football game with other Maple Bluff/Madison residents.

Too many to name are his beloved friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins who were all supportive of Scott.  A nod to the tremendous care he received the last several years in navigating his cancer journey for the staff at UW Hospital.

We will truly miss the best that Scott had to offer and hope that he looks fondly on us here, especially Londyn and Samuel as he reunites with the loved ones he so dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life/Services will be held on November 21, 2025, at 11:00AM, at Blessed Sacrament, 2121 Rowley Ave Madison, WI 53726.

I was fortunate to be able to spend four years in the trenches playing and training with Scott. He was a good player and like everything else he did, he always was “all in”. Life pulls us in different directions and I’m sorry to say that I was unaware of his final battle on earth. You will be remembered and missed my friend. Gods speed brother🙏

Scott brought joy into every moment he shared with us. Some of my most cherished memories are the simple ones: him handing me a sweet treat just to make me smile, or quietly sneaking me a little money — just because. He had a way of making us feel loved without ever needing many words. He was strong in every sense of the word. Scott didn’t just live life — he pushed himself to the limit, competing in Ironmans with the same heart and determination he brought to everything he did. That strength, that grit, was part of what made him so inspiring. He showed us what it meant to live fully and give fully. Our trips to Six Flags will always stay close to my heart. Scott would win every prize he could, not for himself, but because he loved seeing us kids happy. That was who he was — generous, gentle, and always putting others first. I’m still convinced the game-booth workers knew him by name — and probably had a picture of him in the back labeled “Be Prepared.” But behind all that strength and humor was a heart that had endured the deepest kind of pain. Losing Erica and Tony changed his life forever. He loved them with every piece of his soul, and their absence left a wound that never healed. Yet he kept going. He kept loving. He kept giving. He found joy and purpose in his two younger children, Londyn and Sam, who brought him endless pride and happiness. Even though Scott is gone, I feel him in the little joys he loved so much — the laughter, the treats, the moments of mischief that made life brighter. I carry him, Erica, and Tony in my heart, and I’ll never forget how fully he loved us, or how much fun he made every day.
