Bernard Mayr

DEFOREST – Bernard Andrew Mayr, age 88, passed away, peacefully, on Monday, October 27, 2025. Bernie was born on June 10, 1937, the youngest of 10 children to Julius and Katherine (Schnell) Mayr. He grew up on the family farm in Keyser and went on to graduate from DeForest High School. Bernie married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Jean Robarge, on June 21,1958, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Bristol. He worked for 36.5 years at Oscar Mayer and retired in 1998. Bernie enjoyed deer hunting, fishing in Canada, smelt fishing, camping, snowmobiling, gardening, taking road trips with his wife, and drinking beer with friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bernie is survived by children, Danny (Tami), Michael (Julie), and his cherished daughter, Lisa Pullen (Tamie Ullrich); grandchildren, Steve, Brandon (Brooke), Trent, Coyt (Lauren), Keylee (Matt) Schneider, Danielle (Derek Core), Casey (Taylor), Crystal Pullen(Daniel Wright), and Nikki Pullen (Darius Pennington), 13.5 great grandchildren; and brother, Julius. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Bernie is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Beverly; siblings, Angeline, Isabel, Marie, Sylvester, Fred, Margaret, Joe, and Leander.     

 A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 9:30AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

The family encourages anyone who attends to wear their favorite packer, badger, brewer, or western blaze orange apparel in honor of Bernard.
