Obituary

MADISON – James Frank, age 71, died of COPD, on Friday, October 31, 2025. Jim was born on October 25, 1954, in Madison, WI to Edwin and Evelyn (Vance) Frank.  Jim served in the US Air Force in the canine unit. He was connected to the Tony Frank’s businesses for most of his life. He enjoyed handing out Grocho Marx Glasses, buying them by case. Jim liked spending his time writing poems. He loved astronomy, donating one of his larger telescopes to Ridgeway High School.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Leandra and Veronica; sister, Karen (Frank) Dowling; and his best friend, Scott Broadbent. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy; and twin brothers, Jeff and John.

Per his wishes, no services will be held.

I have known Jimmy since I was young. My Mom and I used to go to Tony franks for a burger and chips every week ,it was rhe highlight of my week. When I got older I worked for Jimmy , it amazed me how many people came in just to see him and talk to him,especially the ladies theu always talked about how handsome he was. I remeber when he used to make fried cheese the customers loved it, he was the only one who made it correctly so it was always a special treat. May he rest in peace and condolences to the famiy.

I met Jimmy while still in my teens when he helped his Uncle Jerry at the Bull Ring on State Street. Was sorry to see him leave there as he was such a nice guy. Didnt have to miss him long though as we reconnected when i went to lunch one day at Tony Franks. I became a loyal customer due to Jimmy's great food and his great personality. Sending love and prayers to his family at this difficult time. RIP Jimmy, you will be missed.

I worked for & with Jimmy for 10 years, we had a love/hate relationship. Meaning we would yell at each other 1 day and then later be laughing together or sharing difficulties from the past, he has cried on my shoulder & then the next day fire me,

So many great memories. Jim and I were roommates at the old hippie farm near Belleville for many years and traveled together to North Carolina several times, to Florida and even Colorado. I’m very honored he mentioned me in his obituary. Even though we lived thousands of miles apart, we were always in touch. You’re free now, old friend. I’ll never forget you. RIP.
