I've known Bob, Ron and the Dommershausen family since we all attended St James School and Church. We rode the same City buses out to the end of Park Street. In later years Bob's interest in cars and racing had us crossing paths once again. Bob was always very generous to me helping support me in the early years of my racing career, helping with parts, tools and the use of his shop out on Dommers Drive. Bob and I raced together at local tracks. He, in the late model division and I, in the modified division. Then, of course, Bob owned the beautiful #21 modified stock car that Joe Jones drove to victories. Bob traveled with me in 1969 to Phoenix, AR for an event we competed in. Later, Bob attended the Indy 500 when we competed there in the 1980 race. Bob also helped orchestrate and effort to produce a commemorative T-shirt for the event in support of our efforts there. He and Ron networked to secure tickets for me to numerous UW Hockey games including the infamous UW vs Michigan playoff game at Hartmeyer Arena. 8600 fans wanting tickets for about 1500 available seats. An outstanding performance by them and the Badgers as I recall. Bob was a loyal friend, honest as the day is long and steady as a rock. Rest in Peace my friend, Bill Engelhart
