Verona –
Harland Harold Blumke, age 81, passed away on November 5, 2025. He was born on November 22, 1943, in Madison, WI, the son of Harold and Olga (Abplanalp) Blumke. Harland graduated from Verona High School in 1962. He then served in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970.
Harland was employed at Miller and Son Supermarket from 1962-1971. He was employed at Oscar Mayer from 1971-2003, retiring after 30 years of employment. Harland was also a sub-contractor for the Wisconsin State Journal for many years, while still working for Oscar Mayer.
Harland was the captain of his high school basketball team, his senior year. He was also a member of the Madison Ski Club and in later years enjoyed playing golf, as long as he could. He was an avid sports fan of the Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also a UW sports fan, especially hockey and football.
Harland was a caring person, and he was always there to lend a helping hand to family. His beloved little Maltese, Anna, was so important to him.
He is survived by his sister, Joanne Delvaux; nephew, Steve Delvaux; nieces, Debra (Steve) Sutter, Diane (Robert) Packard and Lisa (Jason) Friedman; great-nieces and nephews, Megan (Tim), Adam and Connor Sutter and Benjamin (Katelyn), Victoria and Samantha Packard; great-great-nephew, Grayson and great-great-niece, Genevieve.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Clarence “Red” Delvaux.
Per Harland’s wishes, private family services will be held at Verona Cemetery.
