Dennis T. Reger, age 82, of Windsor, passed away at home peacefully on November 6, 2025, under the care of Agrace Hospice and his wife, Mary.
Dennis was born November 4, 1943, to George and Marie Reger. Dennis graduated from East High School in Madison. After high school, he attended UW – Madison. He also joined ROTC while he was there.
Dennis met his wife, Mary Hottmann while attending school. They were married in 1965 and had two children, Michelle and Christine.
Dennis decided to serve his commitment to ROTC right after graduation from UW. He became a maintenance officer in the United States Air Force. First stop was going to school in Mississippi. Dennis was stationed at McCoy AFB for five years, then stationed in Taiwan for13 months. Next, he was stationed at Griffiss AFB for five years. He remained in the Air Force from 1966-1977.
Dennis loved spending his weekends camping with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing jarts, cards and singing the occasional inappropriate song at the campfire. He later shared this love with his grandchildren, creating many wonderful memories.
After service the family moved back to Wisconsin. They settled in Windsor and have been there ever since. Dennis tried different jobs and decided on working for the US Post Office. He retired in 2007.
Dennis’ hobbies were many. He was what you would call a handy man. He could fix about anything. He also liked to build things. Badger sports was his passion. He and Mary were ticket holders for over 30 years for football and basketball. He especially enjoyed entertaining his family on Packer football Sunday’s and taking the grandchildren camping.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth (Hottmann) Reger; his daughters, Michelle (Jay) Rauls and Christine (Scott) Miller; grandchildren, Derek (Nicole), Jason (Michelle), Tyler (Kendra), Kevin (Karly) and Kendall (Be Ware) Rauls, Taylor (Eric) Stewart and Branden Miller; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Patricia) Reger and Deborah (Louis) Epps; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Reger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert (Patricia) Reger, Marion (David) Schmidt and Phillip Reger.
A public visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, 6924 Lake Road. Private family services will be held on Friday with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens.
Dennis ran into a series of health issues 12 years ago. He was able to remain at home through the remainder of his day, because of the loving care of his wife and family. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA Hospital, Home Based Primary Care, Cornerstone and Agrace Hospice.
