Gary Grindle

MADISON – Gary Lee Grindle, age 79, passed away, unexpectedly at his home, on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Gary was born on August 2, 1946, in Dodgeville, WI to Philip and Twila (Sittig) Grindle. He grew up with a farming family for the first nine years of his life. He attended a one room country school, at age 10 his family transitioned to the North Side of Madison and later graduated from Madison East High School. Gary received a BA in Industrial Engineering at UW Platteville. He worked at Ray-O-Vac and Gordon Engineering in Portage. After retirement he returned to the North Side of Madison to spend time with his family.

He was a longtime member of Lakeview Lutheran Church. He enjoyed walks around the neighborhood, finding a bargain, talking to people, and especially, spending time with his family. Gary would do anything for anyone. He was thrifty to a fault with material things, but never with his time and energy to help anyone, anytime, with anything he could.

Gary is survived by his siblings, David (Jean), Sharon Horning (Eric Hestetune), and Dennis, Ed. (Bridget); nieces/nephews, Jim, Ethan, Sara, Stasia, and Molly; and grandniece, Jillian. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 11:00AM at Lakeview Lutheran Church 4001 Mandrake Drive, Madison. A Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until time of service on Tuesday at the church. Burial at Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery.
