With full hearts and loving remembrance, we share the peaceful passing of Eleanore “Ellie” Zirbel, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful friend, who went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2025.

Born and raised in De Pere, Wisconsin, Ellie was the daughter of Raymond and Marie (Cornelissen) Trinkner, and grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings Gordon, Richard, Ken, Dorothy Mae, and Mary — all of whom preceded her in death. Her strong faith and love for her family were the foundation of her life.

Though her given name was Eleanore, she was known simply as “Ellie” to all who loved her. Her warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering presence brought comfort to so many. She was the proud and loving mother of one son, Craig (Marcy), who remained her heart’s greatest joy.

Ellie’s role as a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her endless happiness. She adored her grandsons Jordan and Cody (Betsy), and beamed with pride as she watched them grow into strong, kind and loving men. Her heart expanded once again with the arrival of her four cherished great-grandchildren: Ava, Max, Will, and Leo. They lit up her world.

Ellie was also the family’s most loyal fan — from Craig’s earliest games through Jordan and Cody’s sports careers to Ava and Max’s sports schedules, she was always there, cheering from the sidelines or stands. If there was a game and Ellie could be there, she was there — supporting with quiet pride and endless encouragement.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ellie found joy and strength in her church community and never wavered in her devotion. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life with grace and humility. She was also a lifelong lover of dachshunds and raised many through the years, each one a beloved companion by her side.

Ellie leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, loyalty, and quiet perseverance. She was a listener, a cheerleader, a prayer warrior, and a constant source of encouragement. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit will continue to live on in the lives of those she loved so dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Dane County Humane Society or that you simply share an act of kindness in her memory. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at New Perspective, Sun Prairie, and Agrace Hospice Care for their kindness and loving care they gave Ellie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Dennis Church in Madison, a visitation beforehand starting at 10:00. until the time of Mass. A second service and burial will be held in her hometown at a future date, with details to be shared with family and friends when arrangements are complete.

She was the heart of our family, and she will always be with us.
