Obituary

“How YOU doing?” would be the first words David "Jukebox" Jevne would say to everyone. Dave passed on Sunday, November 30, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Eau Claire to Muriel (Cain) and Byron Jevne on August 19, 1948.

Dave played on several youth baseball teams for Ernie Bruns and enjoyed every minute. He was a standout athlete at West High School, where he was quarterback of the football team and pitcher/outfielder for the baseball team. Dave furthered his baseball interest through the Home Talent teams in Pine Bluff and Verona.

While in Verona, Dave was given the moniker “Jukebox” because of his vast collection of blues and rock music, especially Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rolling Stones, and Moon Martin. His music collection was numbered in the 100’s. It was also there that he made lifelong friendships with Kalt, Tup, Spike, Zurby, Burrito, and Bois, just to name a few. Let’s face it, no one had real names in Verona. Juker also made many friends at the Town Pump playing pool and volleyball for many years.

Dave was a carpenter for over 40 years, who subcontracted to several companies, including Freddie Pulver and later his son, Marty. He helped out many friends and family with beautifully crafted remodels and custom work. Dave was a lifelong fan of the Packers and Brewers. He was a voracious reader and did almost every puzzle in the daily paper, but especially the crossword puzzles. Rarely did he miss the show, Jeopardy.

In February 1969, Dave married his high school sweetheart Lois (Ivey) Gruchow. The birth of their beautiful daughters, Tricia Jevne and, a couple years later, Shannon (Ray) Wolf soon followed. His biggest joy in life were his grandchildren, Coltan and Brynn. He never regretted the time he spent with them each week after his retirement. He was so very proud of who his children and grandchildren had become. While the kids were young, he was also in the Army Reserve.

Later in life, Dave met and fell for a small, brown-eyed, platinum blonde named Holly and her human mom, Sherri Sutter. He invited them to live with him in Belleville in 2000. Sherri and Dave were married on a quiet September day in 2006.

There wasn’t a kid or a pet that Dave didn’t like, including his best boy, Zack, who could be seen with him in Belleville for their early morning walks. Dave’s big heart also had room for his cats Sinbad, Frankie, Johnny, Autumn, and Cinder through the years.

Dave was loved deeply and is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Eartha Azar, Gil (Bonnie) Jevne, Diane (Pete Rumph) Thompson, and Craig Jevne. He is further survived by his father-in-law Edward Sutter, along with Sherri’s siblings, Mitchell (MaryKay) Sutter, Brenda (Robert) James, and Beth (Patrick) Trainor. Dave will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his fur babies, Zack and Cinder. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Valeria Sutter.

There will be a private service for family. A Celebration of Life for his friends will be held on January 31, 2026, at the 5th Quarter Bar & Grill, 161 Horizon Drive, Verona, from noon until 4:00PM. Please consider wearing Packer or Brewer attire in his honor.

His family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors that helped during his illnesses, but especially Kalt, Ace and Amy. They would also like to thank the medical staff at SSM Health, UW-Health Belleville, and Complete Care in his final days. A man with the biggest laugh and a million friends, he is deeply missed by those who loved him.

In the words of Jukebox, “Could be Worse”.

Dave was always such a great guy. He came out to our bands play at the Town Pump and held many after bar time parties. Never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He will be deeply missed by many as he had many friends. Rest in peace Juker! 💔
