Obituary

William “Skip” Madden, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare due to a short time with dementia. He was born on December 25, 1949, in Germany. Skip was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He married Dorothy Joachim on August 15, 1998, in Madison, WI.

Skip worked at Sherwin-Williams for over 10 years as a truck driver. He was a familiar face at Gus’s Diner in Verona, where he often ate—sometimes twice a day, always insisting their coffee was the best he’d ever had and loved all the waitresses. In the evenings, you would often find Skip in his mancave, happily immersed in computer games. He took pleasure in bowling, playing board games, a good Korbel Brandy Old Fashioned (sweet with no citrus), and a relaxing game of pool. Animals held a special place in Skip’s heart, especially his cats and the adopted dogs that found their way into the family over time.

'Skip is survived by his wife; stepsons, Darrell Kapp, Shawn Gilberts, granddaughters, BreAnna Kapp (Brad), Haley Kapp (David); great grandchildren, Oaklynn, Macie, Quinlee, Breylen, Berklee, Baylor; nieces, Karrie, Cathy; two sisters, Karin, Diane; two brothers, Ray, Michael; and many more nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his lovely mother and brother.

Family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare, and in home caregivers Lucy and Amber.

A Celebration of Skip’s Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
