MADISON – Domingo R. Cardenas Sr., age 70, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Whispering Pines in Ripon, WI. He was born on May 1, 1955 in Beeville, TX to Rosendo Reyna Cardenas-Tapia and Luz Cardenas. He grew up Beeville and moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1973 with his best friend, Hector Melchor. While in Kenosha, he worked for American Motors alongside his close friends. In the 1980’s he moved to the Northside of Madison, later residing on the Westside of Madison and later Middleton. Domingo was a proud Chicano. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Domingo was always putting smiles on people's faces with the many jokes he would tell. Domingo was a survivor. He was resilient, having gone through heart attacks, open heart surgery, back surgery and an amputation to his left arm. His spirit never wavered. He was truly a “Bad Scooter”.

Domingo is survived by his children, Mark A. (Heather) Cardenas, Domingo R. Cardenas Jr., Leonard R. Cardenas and Neomi Cardenas; the granddaughter he raised like a daughter, Netty Elda Cardenas; grandchildren, Janessa, Mark Jr., Rykker, Aniaya, Maddyn, Addison, Octavio, Domingo III, Samantha, Dominic, Lecia, and Leonard Jr.; 8 great grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters, and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his partner, soul mate, and best friend, Anita Melchor; his parents; his great grandchild; and other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from NOON until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
