Obituary

MORRISONVILLE – Edward James Denman, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Ed was born on August 13, 1944, in Cazenovia, WI to Lloyd and Minnie (Breese) Denman. He grew up on a farm south of Cazenovia, WI doing chores and getting into mischief. Ed went all eight years of school in a one room, school house, just over the hill from the farm. Walking there, a lot of times, with his siblings. He graduated from Weston High School in 1962. Ed went on to attend Sauk County Teacher’s College, where he met the love of his life, Betty Briggs. They married on July 4, 1964, at Assembly of God Church in Baraboo. After marriage, he joined the US Air Force, where he was stationed in Arizona and later in Vietnam.

After serving he worked at Grede Foundry and Madison Kipp Foundry as a welder and fabricator. Ed also did auto body work on the weekends. Ed and Betty formed a business called Country Trailers, where they manufactured cargo trailers to pull behind your motorcycle as well as trailers to haul your motorcycles on. Ed and Betty traveled all over the US to motorcycle shows, selling their trailers. He also made specialized trailers for area farmers. After retirement, Ed started building beautiful lawn ornaments for their yard and took great pride in his displays.

Ed was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association as well as the local snowmobile club. He enjoyed deer hunting with the whole family, snowmobiling, and square dancing. Ed was a friend to all, father, brother, neighbor, and proud veteran.

Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; daughter-in-law, Juana Rodriguez; grandchildren, Bruce Alejandro, Janeth, Ali, Blanca, and Luis; great grandchildren, Brenely, Yadiel, Jaidan, Yaretzi, Alicia, Yoselin, Alejandra, and Yasmin; siblings, Lloyd (Rosemary), Chuck (Linda), Dennis (Tina), Eldon (Julie), Mariel Karstetter (Bill Stock), Edna (Ned) Woolever, and Beatrice (David) Rabine; sister-in-law, Mardell Briggs; and special friend and veteran, Tom Olson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Ed is preceded in death by his son, Brian; parents; mother and father-in-law; sister, Alice (Richard) Lock and Freda Johnson; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Reginald “Jr.” Briggs.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM followed by Full Military Honors, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, 220 South Main Street, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 9:30AM until time of service on Saturday at the church. A Luncheon will be served at the church.
