Rosa Vega Hurtado

Pasadena, California – Rosa Delia Vega, age 72, passed away on 12/22/2025 due to natural causes, in Waunakee, Wisconsin surrounded by her family.

Born on 2/14/1953, in San Salvador, El Salvador, the daughter of Berta Hurtado and Salvador Arriaza.

After a courageous battle with metastatic thyroid cancer, God gently called her home. While our hearts grieve, we find peace knowing she is now reunited with God and her mother, resting in eternal wholeness.

Rosa’s life was nothing short of remarkable. She emigrated from El Salvador in the 1980s as a single mother, without speaking English, carrying little more than faith, determination, and love for her children. She worked tirelessly as a housekeeper and nanny, serving families who believed in her and ultimately helped her achieve U.S. citizenship in the early 1990s.

Through sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering belief in her children, she helped pave the way for their education at institutions such as Yale University, UCLA, and UCA in El Salvador. She was endlessly proud of her two daughters (Dr. Kimberly Flores & Brenda Rodriguez), her son (Dr. Nestor Rodriguez), and her grandson (Mateo Rodriguez) and we were, and always will be, profoundly proud of her.

She is also deeply missed by her loyal companion Riley, her tiny Yorkie, who loved her as fiercely as we do.

Her legacy lives on through her family, her faith, and the countless lives she touched through quiet strength and selfless love.

Pasadena, California – Rosa Delia Vega, de 72 años, falleció el 22 de diciembre de 2025 por causas naturales en Waunakee, Wisconsin, rodeada de su familia.

Nació el 14 de febrero de 1953 en San Salvador, El Salvador, hija de Berta Hurtado y Salvador Arriaza.

Después de una valiente batalla contra el cáncer de tiroides metastásico, Dios la llamó suavemente a Su presencia. Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de dolor, encontramos paz al saber que ahora está reunida con Dios y con su madre, descansando en plenitud eterna.

La vida de Rosa fue verdaderamente extraordinaria. Emigró de El Salvador en la década de 1980 como madre soltera, sin hablar inglés, llevando consigo poco más que su fe, determinación y un amor inmenso por sus hijos. Trabajó incansablemente como empleada doméstica y niñera, sirviendo a familias que creyeron en ella y que finalmente la ayudaron a obtener la ciudadanía estadounidense a principios de la década de 1990.

A través del sacrificio, la resiliencia y una fe inquebrantable en sus hijos, ayudó a abrir el camino para su educación en instituciones como Yale University, UCLA y UCA en El Salvador. Estaba profundamente orgullosa de sus dos hijas (Dra. Kimberly Flores y Brenda Rodriguez), de su hijo (Dr. Nestor Rodriguez) y de su nieto (Mateo Rodriguez). Y nosotros estuvimos, y siempre estaremos, inmensamente orgullosos de ella.

También es profundamente extrañada por su fiel compañerito Riley, su pequeño Yorkie, quien la amó con la misma intensidad con la que nosotros la amamos.

Su legado vive a través de su familia, su fe y las innumerables vidas que tocó con su fortaleza silenciosa y su amor desinteresado.
