Verona - Charlene Louise Ray, age 94, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026. She was born on September 25, 1931, in Waunakee, Wisconsin, the beloved daughter of Charles Schoepp and Louise (Raemisch) Schoepp.
Charlene graduated from Waunakee High School. She married Robert “Doug” Ray on October 2, 1954 ant St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waunakee. Their union was blessed with three children. Charlene was a longtime resident of Verona. Her and Doug dedicated their life to dairy farming. Charlene was a 4H leader in Paoli for many years. She loved to travel and to help people and worked as a tour guide which allowed her to do both at the same time. Charlene traveled the world and enjoyed taking many trips to Alaska especially with Doug.
Charlene is survived by her children, Dr. Cheryl Ray of Madison and Robert Ray of Verona; grandson, Spencer Ray; son-in-law, Jeff Daniels of Verona; sister-in-law, Marietha Jelle; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Doug Ray; and her daughter, Lynn Daniel’s.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Four Winds and Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care given to Charlene.
