Obituary
Sacia Mae Pence passed away surrounded with love at home on January 10, 2026, at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with dementia. Born May 22, 1950, in Eau Claire, WI, to William and Alice (Fisher) Myers, Sacia grew up on the family farm, Heatherdale Farms, in Menomonie. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1968. In 1972, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Stout. During her junior year, she was honored as the 1971 Indianhead Snowmobile Queen by the Menomonie Area Jaycees.
Sacia had a lifelong love of music, singing in traveling choirs and performing at weddings. She also enjoyed sewing, showing cattle with her sisters in the Red Cedar 4-H Club, and spending time with her many friends and loved ones.
While attending Stout, she met the love of her life, Rodney Pence. They were married on March 13, 1971. Sacia surprised everyone and sang “One Hand, One Heart” at her own wedding to her husband Rodney. Soon after, Rodney and Sacia welcomed a daughter, Velvet, named after Sacia’s youngest sister. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and cherished traditions.
Sacia worked alongside her parents at The Knapp House Supper Club, where she served as a bartender and manager from 1971 to 1982. After moving to the Madison area in 1981, she continued her career in real estate with Ed Busse Century 21, later working for Nicolet and retiring in 2018 from Thermo Fisher Scientific (formerly Nicolet). Sacia worked tirelessly to ensure her family was well cared for and surrounded with love. She delighted in the simple joys of life—finding the best sales, planning Black Friday shopping adventures to the Mall of America, and sharing annual holiday shopping trips with her sister and daughter. Her keen eye for a bargain and enthusiasm for tradition made every outing memorable. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandson, Griffyn. From sleepovers when he was small to cheering proudly at every football game and taking him on shopping adventures to get the newest and coolest clothes and shoes, Sacia treasured every moment with him.
In 2020, Sacia was officially diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and aphasia. Despite the challenges of her illness and the difficulties brought on by the pandemic, she faced her journey with courage and grace, supported by her devoted family and compassionate caregivers. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who helped care for her, especially Stephanie, whose kindness and dedication brought comfort during difficult times.
Sacia is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Rodney; daughter Velvet (Jerry) Holmes; grandson Griffyn Holmes; sisters Chjar (Tom) Johnson and Billie Jo (Will) Fiege both of Menomonie; brother Michael (Deb) Myers; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is also survived by her kitty, Cookie, and her grand dog, Arabella who loved to give her big doggie kisses!
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Myers; sisters Velvet Myers and Rebecca Ahrens; and brother Daniel Myers.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2-4 pm at Ryan Funeral Home in DeForest, with a private family burial to follow at a later date at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Menomonie, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Community Center in DeForest or to Agrace Hospice of Madison.
