Scott Allan Rose of Madison, WI passed away on January 11th, 2026. Damn it. He had so much love to give and great plans ahead. He is now at peace and is surely annoyed that his passing came this soon.

Born July 18th, 1952, in Racine, WI, to Marge (Shinkunas) and Elmer Rose. The firstborn of four, Scott was a leader, a caretaker, and a mischief maker. All things that make a wonderful husband, father, and Bupa. He loved music and grew up playing percussion and guitar. He was in Drum Corps both as a participant and instructor, which is where he and his wife, Sheri, met.

Scott and Sheri shared a beautiful life together. They renovated houses, traveled, spent countless hours with their grandchildren, and enjoyed the beautiful community they found within their friends, their work lives, and the neighborhoods in which they lived.

Scott had an analytical mind, which served him well as a ‘numbers guy’. He enjoyed work and supporting and managing people; he was so good at looking out for his employees in a deeply human and authentic way. Scott was especially proud of the work he did while at Mirus Bio. He loved his coworkers. Scott loved being able to work and enjoyed contributing to a place that was working to help people and make the world better.

Scott loved to be on the water. He spent the later years of his life on Monona Bay or floating in the Ocean in the Keys (here is where he would tell us to say that he also spent the early years of his life on the water - rivers, lakes, streams, anywhere there were fish). He loved to fish and felt peace on the water.

Born a true creative, Scott played the piano, composed music, wrote musicals, and continued to suggest creative solutions to problems until the end. Always wanting to make things better, more interesting, and more dynamic, Scott’s creativity knew no bounds. He passed on this unique and beautiful trait to his children and grandchildren; this will continue to be another way Scott lives on in their lives.

The legacy Scott leaves is one of fun, care, and intention. He could find the fun in anything. He would help his friends, neighbors, and family without ask, and he would do it with such purpose and love that he truly made the world he lived in a better place. Scott knew how to live well. He moved through the world slowly (much to the chagrin of his wife), and it taught his family to do the same. Slow intention when you are surrounded by your loved ones is a gift he gave that we continue to cherish.

He is survived by his caring wife and soulmate, Sheri; his two children, Adam (Jennifer) Rose, and Megan (Tom) Thornburgh; and his four grandchildren, Lillian (15), Oliver (12), Rosemary (10), and Max (4 months), whom he loved more than anything. Further, he is survived by his brothers, Mark (Ann) Rose, Kevin (Kendra) Rose, and sister, Trace (Pat) Mullaney. His siblings supported him and were by his side continually throughout his life, right to the very end. The four of them were a special unit. Scott was also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Cline, brother-in-law Todd (Laurie) Cline, and many nieces and nephews. He loved and valued his family above all else.
