Sandra "Sandy" McCarthy

Sandra "Sandy" Lea McCarthy, age 85, passed away on January 16, 2026, at her home in Deforest, WI. Sandy was born on December 14, 1940, in Lancaster, WI to Samuel "Rex" and Eleanor (Stonger) Mink. She graduated from Adams Friendship High School, home of the Green Devils. Sandy married James "Jim" McCarthy on February 3, 1973, in Madison, WI. In 2013 she retired after 30 years of employment as an informal review agent with WPS. Sandy enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and would often work on them while cooking or baking something delicious. She was a proud grand paw parent to her beloved dogs Keke and Skyla.

Sandy is survived by her children Michael "Mike" (Tara) Grignano, Melissa "Missy", Ann (Ross) Suchomel, Kevin (Kristi), Michael "Mike" (Kathy), Patrick "Pat" (Nicki); 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren; her brother John (Linda) Mink, and her sister Janell Venden.

She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Rex and Eleanor, her husband James "Jim", son Mark Grignano, daughter Michel and husband Robert "Bob" Riehle, grandson Sean, and brother-in-law Rockwell "Rocky" Venden. 

The family would like to thank Shawn and Emily Feldman and SSM Health Hospice Care along with Dr. Leo Schug. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson Street, DeForest, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church. A luncheon will be provided following the service. Burial at a later date.
