Betty J Timm

Betty Jeanne (Oczachowski) Timm, age 91, of DeForest, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI.

Born to Stephen and Estella Oczachowski, September 14th, 1934, in Strongs Prairie, Adams County, WI.  Betty was the first of eight children.  She spent her early childhood in Adams County and near Madison, WI until 2nd grade when her family moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI. where she grew up. Betty married Robert Hollman in 1952 which ended in January 1975.

December 10, 1978, Betty married Myron (Mike) Timm of DeForest.  Together they operated a truck garden farm until 1995.  Betty worked in food service at the DeForest High School from 1992 until 2011.  Mike and Betty moved to a retirement center in DeForest in March of 2001.

Betty taught 4-H students knitting and crocheting for many years.  She also taught floral design and quilting for Madison Area Technical College.  She worked for Kliens Floral for many years and Sentry Floral in Sun Prairie.

Betty was a member of the Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest.  She served on the board as a Trustee and an Elder.

Betty loved fishing, hunting, camping, a good book, quilting and needle work, but her love for her grandchildren could not be measured, for it was so vast they were the joy of her life.  Her happiest times with family was cooking a meal and sitting around the table and listening to their stories.  Betty loved traveling.  She and Mike took many trips.  Betty went to Poland in 2001 with three of her aunts to seek out her heritage.

Betty leaves behind a daughter, Cheryl (Roy Manthe) Theis; Grandchildren, Heather Hillestad, Chad (Renata) Theis, Megan (Will) Bredeson. A son, Michael (Sissel) Hollman; Grandchildren, Brandy Hollman and Christina Hollman. Great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Monroe and Balin Hillestad; Ryli, Tripp, and Croix Theis; Blayne and Delaney Bredeson; Makayla Raether and Hadley and Karli Hollman. Brothers Alson (Audery), Ronald, and Dennis Oczachowski. Brother-in-law Chuck Newman.  Sister Cindy (Jeff) Maliscksi.

Two stepchildren Martha (Howard) Mabis, Dick (Nichola) Timm.  Six step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren whom Betty enjoyed as family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Mike; parents and grandparents; grandson, Joseph Hollman; brother, Stephen; sisters, Wanda Marie and Leona; and sister-in-law, Denise Oczachowski.
