Edward Hoene

RIO - Edward "Ed" Hoene, age 69, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026. He was born on July 9, 1956, in Madison, WI to Alvin and Margaret (Clements) Hoene. He graduated from Lafollette High School in 1974. Ed worked as a mechanic at Oscar Mayer for more than 20 years. He loved his job and made many lifelong friends there. Hunting and fishing with his brothers were boyhood passions that Ed never outgrew. He was a big fan of westerns, NASCAR racing, game shows, sports, and cars. He was a fix-it guy and would try his hand at anything that needed repair.

Above all, most important is Ed's life were his children, Steven, David, and Vivian. He loved them with all his heart, and they were the brightest lights in his life. His daughter, Vivian, was instrumental in caring for him over the years and Ed was so grateful for her help and her love.

Ed is survived by his children, Steven (Haley Ramano), David, and Vivian; sister, Judy Hoene, brothers, Tim (Peggy) Hoene and Jeff (Sandy) Hoene; nieces, Rebecca (James) Spartz, Emily (Jason) Scott, Tereasa (Donnie) Gruber, and Heather Hoene (Hans Walleser); and great nephews and niece, Finn and Eli Wallace, Roark, August Scott, Barrett, Cade, Kalan, Parker Gruber, and Breleigh Draeger. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack Hoene and Steve Hoene; and infant nephew, Mitch Hoene.

Ed's family extends their sincere gratitude to his good friend, Duane "Dewey" Peterson, who was always there with a helping hand, and to Bristol Hospice for their excellent, gentle care of Ed in his last Days.

A private family gathering will be held in Ed's honor.
