Obituary
DEFOREST – Richard L. Leverentz, age 84, reunited with his wife on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Dick was born on September 25, 1941, in Madison, WI, to Donald and Gertrude (Wendt) Leverentz. He grew up in Madison/Windsor/DeForest area and graduated from Portage High School. After school he enlisted in the US Navy where he was stationed on the USS Canberra. Dick married the love of his life, Patricia Hemmersbach, on October 9, 1965, at St. Mary’s Ridge, Cashton, WI. He briefly drove cement truck but primarily drove truck for Briggs in Madison. Dick was as an honorary retired member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 695 in June of 1993. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club International where he was a member for 50+ years and a very proud recipient of his Melvin Jones award. Dick loved his sweet potato fries, occasional beer, Friday fish fries, and a good meat raffle.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Jenny Rucks of Janesville and Jackie Halverson (Mike Sissons) of Stoughton; grandchildren, Lauren Dorn (Luke Stewart), Richard (Bethany) Rucks, Emma Halverson (Fiancée, Matt Skare), and Eli Halverson (Emily Knuths); great granddaughters, Kathryn and Kaylee; brothers, Fred (Maggie) Leverentz, Chuck (Shelia) Leverentz, and Larry Leverentz (Josie Mack). He is further survived by other family and friends. Dick is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Pat; and grandson, Gunnar Halverson
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at VFW Post 328, 200 Veterans Road, Stoughton, with Full Military Honors at 2:00PM
