Edward "Ed" Borchardt

Edward O. “Ed, Eddie” Borchardt, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Sun Prairie Senior Living. He had been battling Parkinson Disease for several years. Ed was born February 4, 1948, in Watertown WI to Orville “Orf” and Selma “Sadie” Borchardt.

At a young age the family moved to Jefferson WI where he lived until his late 20’s. Ed then moved to Sun Prairie where he met his wife Joni in 1976. They were married June 4, 1977, and were just 3 months short of celebrating their 49th anniversary. They lived in York Township, NW Dane County for 42 years, moving to Jefferson Square in Deforest in July 2019. Ed never really liked moving there as he had to get rid of his toys, UTV, ATV’s and a shed full of tools for everything.

Ed worked for Sun Prairie Concrete for 32 years, driving cement trucks to the job sites. He retired in 2002, at 54. He enjoyed playing in his garage, fixing and painting cars, trucks, etc. He had a TV there, so he never missed his favorite daytime shows.

Ed is survived by his 3 kids, Stacie (Kurt) Orcutt, Chad (DeAnn) Borchardt, Suzie (John) Olson; 10 grandchildren, Bria (Shawn) Skibba, CJ (Cheyenne) Hahn, Spencer (Jordan) Hahn, Zack Marks, Caden Borchardt, Evan Borchardt, Keegan Orcutt, Kenadee Orcutt, Justin (Samantha) Olson, Jamie (Kyle) Olson; 11 great-grandchildren, Ivory, Shawn Jr and Jude Skibba, Braeleigh, Brynnlee and Blakely Hahn, Lyla Hahn, Cayde & Isaak Olson, Kian & Kolson Olson; sister, Barb (Steve) Kulow and many nieces and nephews. Ed's special cousin, Janice Schoenherr came to see him as often as she could and when the weather permitted.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Orf and Sadie; brothers, Ruben and Bob; and in-laws, Don and Jeanne Schrader.

The family would like to thank Sun Prairie Health Care Center for taking such great care of Ed in the almost 3 years he was there, and Agrace Hospice for their help in his last few weeks. They are all special people.

Ed didn’t want a funeral. He wanted his friends and family to have a big party and tell lots of stories about his life. I’m sure there will be a lot of laughter and reminiscing going on at his Celebration of Life. It will be at Rude’s Lanes, 210 E Holum St. DeForest, WI, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm. A buffet will be served from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
