Obituary

WINDSOR/DEFOREST – Eljean E. Puent, age 86, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Jean was born on May 23, 1939, in Eau Claire, WI to Roy and Ethel (Mulvaney) Hagen. She grew up on the family farm in Osseo, WI and graduated from Osseo High School in 1957. She moved to Red Wing, Minn shortly after graduation before moving to Madison.  Jean married Richard Puent on February 19, 1966, at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Westport, WI. She was a teacher’s assistant at DeForest Middle School for many years before retiring from Oscar Mayer in 2001. Jean was a night owl who enjoyed car trips, puzzles, gambling, laughing, good stories, going out to eat and dancing with Dick, and spending time with others - especially her grandchildren.  Jean has a million friends, she could talk to and get along with anybody. She will be greatly missed.

Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dick; children, Greg (Michelle) and Terri (Keith) Treinen; grandchildren, Jackson, Jamie, Wyatt Treinen, and Eleanor Treinen; siblings, John (Margaret) Hagen and Margaret Hagen; and sisters-in-law, Ardyce Hagen and Sally Hagen. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Jean is preceded in death by her siblings, Lyman (Fran) Hagen, Verda (Marv) Johnson, Jim Hagen, Patricia (Eldon) Martinson, Bob (Alvina) Hagen, and Ronald Hagen.

A brief memorial service will be held at 6:30PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 4:30PM until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Dear Dick, Greg, and Terri, We (The Anderson clan-Pamela, Lisa, Michelle, and Mark) were deeply saddened to hear about your mom's passing. She truly was a memorable person, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have known her during my childhood while living next door to your family! Her warmth and kindness created an inviting atmosphere that touched everyone around her, leaving a lasting impression on our lives. Her sense of humor was unmatched! She had an extraordinary ability to light up any room with laughter and joy, making her one of the most fun people we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I fondly remember all those times I babysat for Greg and Terri; they were always filled with laughter, mischief, and unforgettable moments. Thank you for sharing your incredible mother with us during those formative years. Please remember that we are thinking of you all during this challenging time, and we are here for you.
