Dear Larry, Tom, Jim, Laurie, Julie and families. . .the loss of Jeanie is huge and felt far and wide. Here is what I posted to my Facebook page in her honor. . ."In 2003 I lost an uncle suddenly and quite tragically. Shortly after that my dad and his cousins/classmates/neighbors/friends (because yes they were all of those things combined) decided they needed to get together more often than at just funerals. they needed to continue to make memories, laugh and enjoy each others company. Enter our cabin as their meeting spot on Labor Day weekend, which often included a variety pack of siblings, and often the 2nd and 3rd generations gathering if able. The laughter, the stories, the food and the beverages all flowed freely and in abundance. On Monday this special group lost a key component when Jeanie left this world. I told my dad the other day that Jeanie is one of those dying breeds of great women who always had a snack, a good beverage (anytime of day was a good time for an Old Fashioned), and good conversation. She was and is family, friend and she will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her. " I know all about all your lives because Jeanie kept us up to date whenever we visited. I know she held a special place in my dad's heart as well as in Erica's. She made sure she was a big sister/mom to them during their college years in Madison. For me, she was a kind heart and smile anytime and an open door as well. Fond memories of her will be told for a long time. Many hugs until I can give them in person. With love forever Dionne (Deitelhoff) Kabat, Bob, Liddy and Scotty
