Obituary

Curtis Alfred Bevers, son of Lee and Vera Bevers, age 75, passed away on April 16th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on January 16th, 1951, and grew up on a farm south of Hazel SD. He graduated from Hazel HS in 1969 as a Hazel Mustang. He then attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD where he earned a bachelors in English and a minor in speech and drama.

After graduating, he married his college sweetheart Debra JoAnne Fritz in 1973. He then went to work for his father-in-law Vernon at Fritz trucking in Clara City, MN for 12 years. Their two lovely children, Jordan and Lane, were born in Clara City.

Curt and Deb moved their family to Springfield, IL in 1985 where they started their own trucking company until moving to Madison, WI in 1988 to continue their business, CB Express. He and Deb successfully ran their business until 2006 when they sold it to enjoy a less stressful work/life balance until retirement in 2016. Once retired they bought a home on Lake Petenwell in Arkdale, WI and have recently spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. He and Deb also put his trucking experience to good use driving their motorhome across the country.

Curt loved to sing. He sang tenor with the Our Saviors Lutheran Church choir and was a charter member of the Old “Hims” group there. He was also more than happy to sing at family events and weddings, especially with his brothers Kyle and Paul. Curt enjoyed living life to the fullest with some favorite pastimes being boating, especially sailing, bike rides, a nice glass of wine from his wine cellar, and a great dinner with friends and family. Curt also loved remodeling his and Deb’s various homes and income properties over the years.

Curt shared a wonderful life with his beloved family, friends, and pets. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years Debra, daughter Jordan Fredrickson (Jeremiah), son Lane Bevers (Kimberly), their grandchildren Malachi, Nora, Robin, and Brynnly; his brothers Kyle Bevers (Marge), Paul Bevers (Jody); and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Curt is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Lee and Vera, and his brother Alan.
