Friend ā¢
I worked with Bob aka 10 Thumbs, for many years at the water utility. We butted heads on occasion and I would make him think twice about his next move š. I wanted to put him in a headlock a few times! We remained friends all these years. He loved camping and when we had a property in Lime Ridge he had a camper on the property with ours. In the mornings he would visit our camper with an empty coffee cup peeking in the window asking when the coffee would be ready! I told him he had a stove that worked in his camper and to make his own but I would always get up (6:30am) and get the pot of coffee started! We used to go to camp at county or state parks before we bought the property. We had our buddy Don Magee, Bob & Lynnie and Jim & I find a site and then weād meet up for happy hour and meals and hiking! Those were good times. So many stories. This is where Bob got the nickname 10 Thumbs. Don said all his fingers were the same length and stubbiness they all looked like thumbs! Don was nicknamed Mountain man and he called us the tarp people. We had a large tarp we put up so we always had shade and when it rained we were covered! He thought it was a clever name for us but we were the ones that provided shelter and food (since they didnāt cook). We lived 1.5 hrs away from Madison but we tried to meet up for lunches now & then after our retirements. I really enjoyed the many years I got to pick on Bob! He was a little grumpy sometimes and stubborn butā¦we all our sometimes! He was a good man and generous with his friends! We will miss himā£ļø!
