I was another member of the Class of '68 with Don. He was always just such a good guy. Everybody liked him & he always had a big smile & a big chuckle for us all. He was a true friend & cared deeply about each & everyone of us. Loved the picture of the Badger 4 - it says it all. My condolences to Jane & family. We'll miss him lots!!! Claudia Ethun

I worked with Don at Pizza Hut for many years as well. He was a great coworker. I thought it was crazy that he commuted from Beaver Dam to come to DeForest to work. But the tip money was worth it! Random but someone started working at my current job and his last name is Erstad. Right away I thought of Don and had to ask if he was related. He said he didn’t know any Dons. It had been almost 10 years since I had worked there but hearing the last name made me think of him.

I first met Don when he worked for Tony’s in Deforest as he’d deliver my Friday fish fry just about every week. I was the General Manager at the Deforest Pizza Hut from 1997-2005 and was pleasantly surprised when Don came in wanting to be a Driver. HECK YEAH I told him we would love to have you on our team! I spent many many many nights closing up shop with Don over the years and we developed a great friendship. Our love of all things Badgers was one of the many topics of conversation while on the job. He was such a great employee, amazing friend, and an even better person. My condolences to all of his loved ones.

Graduated with Dan from De Forest high school in 1968. This is so heartbreaking for me. He was one of the good guys. I absolutely love the picture of the four guys from high school. It was wonderful seeing the majority of them in our last class reunion. I’m so sorry, Jane. This is a hard one. He was just a all-around great guy.😢
