Alfred Eicher

MADISON – Alfred “Al” P. Eicher, Age 96, passed away on Friday May 1, 2026, at Eden Vista Madison.  Al was born on February 5, 1930, to Carl and Rosa (Haldemann) Eicher. He was united in marriage to Grace (Gugel) on September 17, 1955.  They had 64 years of marriage before she passed in 2020. Al worked for the State of Wisconsin for more than 30 years and performed landscape work for various Maple Bluff residents.  He was a member of Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church in DeForest.

Al loved to throw a good party. He enjoyed Badger Football and had season tickets for many years.  He loved dancing with Mom. He would tell us that people would stop dancing and  watch the two of them dance. He also loved to bowl.

He is survived by his 3 children Steven (Veronica), Sharon (John) Helt and Jeffery (Ann); 6 grandchildren, Christine (Don) Newton, Michael (Mary) Helt, Joseph  Helt (Heidi), Jennifer (Ben) Ziegler, Paul (Val) Eicher and Lucas (Emily) Eicher; 5 great grandchildren, Emma, Jack and Eden Eicher, Mya and Lila Ziegler, Benjamin Eicher, Hayden Dietl and Liam; plus many nieces and nephews. He has 3 more great grandchildren on the way in 2026.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a daughter Jenise; 2 brothers, Ernest (Pearl and Ann), John (Helen) and 2 sisters Doris (Orville) Kellesvig and twin sister Hedwig (Albert) Zuberbuehler.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church, 820 River Road, DeForest, with Rev. Carol Baumgartner officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Military Honors will be held after the service at the church.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Madison.
