Obituary

Mary Ann Rose Haag, age 98, died peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2026 at the Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh. Mary Ann was born in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, one of six children to Albert and Mary (Meier) Bollig. From her birth in 1928 to her death on May 8, Mary Ann was a wonderful daughter, wife and mother. She loved to dance and was a majorette in high school. In her twenties she worked as a receptionist for a chiropractor in Mt. Horeb and later as a telephone operator in Madison for Wisconsin Telephone . She met and married Clement Haag in 1952. They built a lovely little home on Major Avenue in Madison where their first of 3 children was born in 1954. From that point forward her focus was her growing family. Mary Ann and Clem built a new home in DeForest and settled there. Mary Ann was active in St. Olaf’s Catholic Church. She managed the flowers on the altar, enjoyed crafting for fundraisers and served on many different committees. She ran a tight ship at home, making sure everyone was cared for and everything was in its place. Mary Ann loved and cared for Clem until his death in 2020. They were married 67 years. We were so blessed to have such a loving mother. Her sense of humor and contagious smile was evident right up through our last week together.

Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Dennis (Cindy) of Ripon, Sharon (Mark) of Palm Harbor and David (Julie) of Janesville. Mary Ann has 6 grandchildren, Sarah (Jay), Theresa, Jena-Marie, Jacob, Abigail (Kevin) and Gwendolyn, and 4 great grandchildren, Andrew, Callen, Cole and Caroline. Mary Ann is also survived by her brother in-law Fritz Haag (Barb) and her sister-in-law Kris Kellesvig, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by two infant sons, her husband, her parents, and her siblings.

Her life at Evergreen was comfortable and loving. She was never without the support of very special caregivers. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift to the Evergreen employee appreciation fund: 1130 North Westfield Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54902.
