Robert Niebuhr

Robert J Niebuhr passed away on Friday, May 15th.  He was born on November 17th, 1944 to Eugene and Bernice (Mohr) Niebuhr.  He graduated from East High School and then attended and graduated from Milwaukee School of Cosmetology.  He owned and operated Hair Majesty Beauty Salon for 40 plus years.  He met and then married Genevive (Ginger) Popanz in November of 1968.  They had two sons, Michael “Wally” and Bradley (Nicole) and granddaughter, Samantha. 

He is survived by his sister, Beverly Nalty (Mike), sister-in-laws Elizabeth (Andy) Morrissette and Kathleen (Steve) Jansen, brother-in-law Joseph Popanz.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Bernice, brother William (Pat Grunke), sister Marlys Trinkle. 

He was a Table Games Supervisor at Ho-Chunk Gaming in Wisconsin Dells.  He loved playing bingo, computer games and other card games.  He served on the State and National Cosmetology Boards for over 20 years becoming President of the National Cosmetology Association in 1988.  He enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally while serving on the Boards. 

There will be a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, June 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00 at Rex’s Innkeeper in Waunakee. 

We would like to thank Ralph and Sandy for assisting our dad with all of his appointments.  In addition, we would like to thank Scott Franks, Toni and Robert, as well as their entire staff at Oak Park Place.  Lastly, we would like to thank Allison from Hospice for being there for our mother and father during their last days of their lives.
