Charles “Chuck” E. Widish, age 86, of Verona, Wisconsin, passed away on June 2, 2026.
Chuck was a man defined by his strong work ethic and sense of humor. He spent many years working in the automotive industry in various capacities and had a passion for detailing cars, taking great pride in them. He retired from Zimbrick Body Shop, where he was known for his reliability and his excellent customer service. His commitment to a job well done earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Outside of his career, Chuck found great joy in caring for his home and yard. He had a passion for gardening and was especially known for his goal of growing the biggest and best tomatoes in town—a pursuit he tackled with enthusiasm each season. His attention to detail extended to his lawn care, where he took pride in maintaining a neat and welcoming space.
Chuck served honorably in the U.S. Army from May 1963 to May 1965. Stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, he was a Supply Specialist with the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division under the Fourth U.S. Army. He earned marksmanship distinctions as an Expert (M14 Rifle), Sharpshooter (Rifle), and Marksman (90mm).
He is survived by Gloria (Slotten) Widish; children: Deanne (Dean) Baley, Shawn Widish, David Widish, and Holly (Tim Jungbluth) Miller; grandchildren: Travis (Betsy Panthofer) Linden, Bobby (Nick) Martin, Heather (Sam) Tobin, Jared Widish, Mariah Miller, and Nathan Widish; four great-grandchildren, as well as two nieces, a nephew, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Marie Widish; his sister, Judy Eichelkraut; his daughter-in-law, Kerry Widish; and his granddaughter, Kasey Baley.
He will be remembered for his humor, strong work ethic, and the impact he had on those around him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI with Pastor Sarah Schilcher officiating. The visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Military Honors will take place directly after the service at the Funeral Home.
