Obituary
Beverly R. Thurber, age 86, of Leeds Township passed away on June 15, 2026, at her home surrounded by family and friends after a long illness. Beverly was born in Madison, Wisconsin on January 24, 1940, and raised in the Leeds/Arlington area by her parents, Wilbert Wendt and Clara (Manthe) Wendt on the family farm.
Beverly was a devout Christian and a faithful lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She graduated from DeForest High School in 1959. Beverly married Gordon Thurber in April of 1960 and together they raised their 2 sons, Robert and David. She worked for Evco Plastics in DeForest for 38 years, retiring in 2006. After retirement Bev and Gordy moved back to Leeds to her family farm where she grew up, across the road from Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her trips to Door County and Nashville but preferred being at home to tend to her flowers or work on her puzzle books. Beverly liked Badger sports, especially women’s basketball.
Above all, her faith and her family were her entire life. She cherished her grandson, Joshua, who was her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends and will be remembered for her loving heart and helping anyone in need.
Beverly is survived by her husband Gordon Thurber of 66 years; sons Robert Thurber and wife Julie of DeForest, WI and David Thurber of San Diego, CA; grandson Joshua Thurber of Menasha, WI; brother and sisters-in-law William and Sally Wendt of DeForest, WI and Robert and Debbie Wendt of Arlington, WI; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Kidney Foundation.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Agrace Hospice for the excellent care given to Beverly in her last days.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church, W6906 County Road K, Arlington, WI. A visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
