Gary Peterson

Gary L. Peterson, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He was born on December 9, 1958, in Grand Forks, ND, the son of H. Leroy and Sigrid (Sigurdson) Peterson. Gary worked as a painter all of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Peterson; grandchildren, Jaymeson, Devin and Melody Wethal; sister, Lou Rae Dierks; brothers, Jim (Betty) Peterson and Jeff Peterson; nephew, Anthony (Brittany) Peterson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula (Shields); his parents; brother, Bob Peterson; brother-in-law, Eugene Dierks and sisters-in-law, Char Peterson and Krissy Blum.

Private family services will be held.
