My Dad Bob Edwards hauled milk to the Steinhauer creamery back in the late 1960's and the Steinhauers all treated him with courtesy and respect which he really appreciated. Chucks's Dad and my Dad would aways talk sports and became good friends. I was a pitcher and catcher for the Dodgeville high school baseball team and the the realized Chuck was a pitcher for Madison Memorial High School team. So Chuck and I would folloe each others careers and got to know one another well. Wouldn't you know it both teams made it to the sectional semi final baseball games and we ended up playing each other.. There was only one class in those days and the game happened to be at Dodgeville..the other 2 teams were Madison West and I think Iowa Grant, we were hoping that Memorial would not pitch Chuck against us to save him for probably Madison West the next day,, No such luck they pitched Chuck against myself. It was a great game and we lost 2-1 My Dad and Chucks Dad really had some fun talking about that one. I think I had one hit but we just couldn't score against Chuck. I am so sorry to read about his passing and just wanted to extend my condolences to the Steinhauer family --You were always good to me and my Dad and really enjoyed our friendly rivalry. Ed Edwards rivalry !!!
