Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Lloyd Finhert, age 80, passed away on June 24, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on October 17, 1945, to parents Arne and Lila (Retrum) Finhert of Blanchardville, Wisconsin.

Tom graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1963. Tom married the love of his life Virginia Ann Johnson on July 13, 1968, in Blanchardville. He was a warehouse manager for Frito Lay where he later retired after 35 years. He enjoyed playing cards with his neighbors, camping, attending car shows, and restoring his 1937 Ford pickup. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters at the pool.

Tom is survived by his daughter Tara Ukadibia; granddaughters Olivia and Isabella; brother Arne Martin Finhert; sister-in-law Chris Warchol; also nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; wife Virginia; brother Robert Finhert; brother-in-law Phillip Johnson; in-laws Mary and Robert Johnson; son-in-law Anthony Ukadibia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Burke Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Burke Lutheran Church, 5720 Portage Road, Madison. A visitation at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mike Curtis The Finherts were friends and neighbors to our family Tom and his family were very generous and thoughtful people My memory of Tom was riding in his truck down North Lake rd which was gravel sliding around corners and holding on hoping we weren’t going to crash and Tommy giggling the hole ride to the lake

I started first grade at the Pleasant Ridge rural school which was located next to the Finhert farm. We continued being classmates until we graduated from Blanchardville High School, Class of 1963. We were in Sunday School together and were confirmed together in 1959. Tom has always been the best friend. I loved his laugh.!! My sympathy.

Tom and Virginia (Johnson) consistently attended the annual Johnson Reunion at the Legion Hall in Blanchardville. Tom always had a smile to share and enjoyed card playing. A couple years ago the Johnson cousins started getting together for lunch every few weeks and Tom joined in with the old stories. We will miss him at our lunches. He so loved his daughter and granddaughters and offer our sympathy to them.

I agree with Richard Bredeson. Tom was a great friend as a neighbor, high school classmate, football team player, and a friend since then. I especially remember the Sunday afternoons in the fall playing tackle football in my yard and in the winter playing basketball in my hay loft with Tom, Arnie Martin, and my brother, Jim. I will miss meeting Tom for lunch when we traveled back to Madison and getting his class update calls.

So many wonderful memories of Tom. Our families were close back in the days when we were neighbors on the farm. We shared so many bus rides to and from school. Later, Tom and Virginia would give me rides home to Blanchardville while I was living in Madison going to East High. We remained friends throughout life and I will always remember his warm personality and great smile.
