Obituary
Robert Philip Markgraf, age 94, passed away on June 24, 2026 in Madison, WI. He was born in Madison on February 11, 1932 to parents, Albert and Gladys (Koenig) Markgraf.
Robert was a 1950 graduate of Madison East High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Alaska during his Army career. Robert then lived in Texas, where he met Mary McMahan and they were married in Fort Worth, TX in 1954.
During his working years, Robert worked as a route driver for Omar Bakery and Bancroft Dairy. He then did maintenance for MATC until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Robert is survived by his children, Charles Gregory (Jean) Markgraf, Phyllis Whitcomb, and Steven Markgraf; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Cynthia Porozynski; and sisters, Wanda and Evelyn.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, WI, with Pastor Mike Weiss officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison. Memorials may be made to Madison Baptist Church, 2323 Portage Rd., Madison, WI 53704.
