Margy Kerwin-Phipps

Margy A. (Hanson) Kerwin-Phipps, age 81, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI. She was born on January 5, 1945, to Marvin and Nora (Buboltz) Hanson in Madison, WI. Margy married Charles Kerwin in 1964, and together they raised three children. Later in life, she found love again and married Richard Phipps. They shared 12 happy years together until Richard's passing in 2019.

A 1963 graduate of Central High School in Madison, Margy went on to attend beauty school before beginning a career as a beautician. She spent more than 50 years serving clients in Madison and DeForest.

Outside of work, Margy enjoyed listening to music.  She treasured the weekends she spent camping at Fish Lake during her younger years.

Margy is survived by Lynn (David Weissburg) Olson, Kim Kerwin, Jeff Kerwin; grandchildren, Kyle (Heather) Olson, Benjamin Ripp, Hannah (David) Gowin; great grandchildren, Mila and Mack Olson, Brycen Ripp, Lucas and Owen Gowin and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard Phipps.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Norway Grove Memorial Lutheran Church, 820 River Road, DeForest, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Norway Grove Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at church.
