Larry Walls

Madison - Larry Leonard Walls, age 79, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. He was born January 19, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Leonard Leroy Walls and Hilda (Steinmetz) Walls. Larry worked for 42 years at the University of Wisconsin Physical Plant as a custodial services program supervisor, retiring in 2007. Larry was a loving husband, father, brother and friend and was always available to assist someone in need. Larry was a was a long-term volunteer. He was a Big Brother, baseball coach, delivered meals on wheels, and supported others by providing transportation to medical appointments. He especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends, sharing his love for life. He loved to dance and listen to live music; especially his favorite musicians, Westside Andy and The Jimmys. If there was an art, or sporting event happening, Larry would be trying to attend.  Larry was an avid traveler. He traveled to 6 continents, 49 states and 34 national parks. Larry enjoyed experiencing life; he encouraged and supported others to do the same.

Larry is survived by his sons; Larry (Michele) of New Lisbon and Scott of Madison; sister-in-law, Peggy Walls of Madison; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances "Fran" Walls; his parents, his brother, Roger Walls; and his close cousins.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N Sherman Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, 5132 Voges Rd, Madison, WI 53718.
