Verona- Leticia Ortiz Colon, age 83, passed away on July 14, 2026. She was born on July 21, 1942, in Orocovis, PR, the daughter of Miguel Angel Ortiz and Sergia Colon.
Leticia graduated from high school in Manhattan, NY. She attended the University of Puerto Rico Cayey Campus, where she obtained studies of education. She worked as an English teacher in Puerto Rico for 10 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She raised 4 children on her own and then adopted all under the catholic beliefs. She was especially proud of them and thinking about them brought her joy. Leticia enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading the Bible, sewing, and crocheting. She loved nature, wildlife and animals, especially birds and dogs. She was a very spiritual person, devoted to St. Padre Pio de Pietrelcina and St. Theresa of Lisieux.
Leticia is survived by her children, Victor (Maria) Figueroa, Ivette Figueroa, Migdalia Figueroa, Miguel Figueroa (Anna), and Ivelisse Figueroa (Jose); grandchildren, Marebet and Alejandro Figueroa, and Marc and Kevin Shean, Paola, Andrea, Lexlie, Orlando, Denzel, and Joelisse; great-grandchildren, Alondra, Camila, Manuel, and Valentina; sister, Angelita Ortiz; nephew, David Niera; and niece, Dolores Diaz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Figueroa Rivera; and sisters, Margarita Rodriguez, Celia Rodriguez, and Abby Ortiz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 301 N Main St, Verona, WI. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
