Obituary

Charlotte Anne (Kruzan) Vitek
January 20, 1936 – July 20, 2026

Charlotte Anne (Kruzan) Vitek, age 90, of Highbridge, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026.

Charlotte was born on January 20, 1936, in Highbridge and graduated from Mellen High School. On October 22, 1955, she married Leroy Vitek, also of Highbridge. Together, they built a lifetime of memories, raising a family and creating a home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of activity.

Charlotte and Leroy raised their seven children in Highbridge. Their home was always a central gathering place, not only for their own family, but also for friends and relatives. Raising seven children was no small task; it took a woman with strength, patience, and a strong will. Charlotte was the heart of the family, tough when she needed to be, but always loving and there for her family.

Later, Leroy’s work brought them to Superior, Wisconsin, where they spent many happy years building friendships, enjoying time with the family, and creating new memories. Charlotte and Leroy loved to travel, especially their trips to Hawaii. They also enjoyed golfing together, and Charlotte was proud to have earned a place in the Hole-in-One Club!

After 25 years in Superior, Charlotte and Leroy moved to Waunakee, Wisconsin, where they continued to enjoy life. They enjoyed going to the local supper clubs and traveling south to escape the Wisconsin winters.

Charlotte’s greatest joy was her four generations of family.  Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Agnes Kruzan; her siblings, Ramona Kokko Ellias, Richard Kruzan, Laverne (Ceil) Kruzan, Tommy (Mary) Kruzan, Delores (Ronny) Watson, and Gladys Suni/Steve Childers; and her grandson, Josh Vitek.

She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Leroy; her children, Leroy (Julie), Lori (Doug), Robin (Debbie), Richard (Pam), Troy (Lynn), Kurtis (Mert), and Kerry (Corey); 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Jack (Kathleen) Kruzan and Kathy (Keith) Stricker.

Charlotte will be remembered for her strong spirit, her generous heart, her love of family, and the welcoming home she created for so many. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family legacy that will continue for generations.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 117 S. West St., Mellen, WI. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, with a service and luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Congregational United Church of Christ. The Vitek family would like to thank everyone for their love and support. We will forever hold Charlotte in our hearts.
