Thelma Lokken

Thelma (Hermanson) Lokken, age 88, passed away on July 23, 2026, and was reunited with her beloved husband, Otis Lokken. Born March 31, 1938, in Blanchardville, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Thomas Hermanson and Cora (Johnson) Hermanson. 

Thelma met Otis at her family farm, and the two were married on September 8, 1957. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage, raised six children, and built a life filled with adventure, love, and cherished memories. Among their many experiences, they enjoyed flying together. Thelma completed flight training and made a solo flight; an accomplishment she remained proud of throughout her life. She also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Alaska and Norway, as well as water skiing, creating artwork, and spending time with family and friends. 

She dedicated more than twenty years of service as secretary at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where she faithfully supported her church community. 

Later in life, Thelma treasured visits with her children, scenic drives, walks, games of Uno, Dominos, and bingo, and, of course, her favorite dessert: pumpkin pie. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, kind heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Lokken; her son, Mark Lokken; her grandchildren, Kassandra Dolson and Samantha Dolson; her brother, Donald Hermanson; her sister, Barbara Halverson; her brothers-in-law, Phil Halverson and Mike Meeker; her parents; and her stepfather, Walter Bronkow.

She is survived by her children, Marvin (Tracy) Lokken, Myron Lokken, Marleen (Dave) Wade, Mary Beth (Matt) Weidenfeller, and Michele (Dan) Dolson; her daughter-in-law, Susan (Rogers) Lokken; her sister, Helen Meeker; her grandchildren, Emily (Eric) Wiley, Molly (Ryan) Yurk, Kelly (Alex) Volm, Shawn Roberts, Amanda (Greg) Fischer, Matt Lokken, Danielle (Alex) Kleist, and Zack (Sarah) Dolson; her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Samantha, Weston, Nadia, Lilly, Quintin, Kaidin, Gavin, and Delilah; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St Paul Lutheran Church, 2126 N Sherman Ave, Madison, with Pastor Michael Erdman presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service. Burial will be held at OLD YORK CEMETERY in Blanchardville, WI.
